Privacy
The short version: if you join the waitlist, we keep your email address and the topics you picked, and use them only to write to you about the lessons. No ads, no tracking cookies, and we never sell your data or share it with advertisers. You can have it deleted at any time.
Who we are
TeriAcademy (teriacademy.com) is a small independent project that makes hand-drawn lessons on how things work. We're responsible for the data you share with us. Write to hello@teriacademy.com about anything on this page.
What we keep, and why
- The waitlist. When you join, we store your email address, the topics you picked (up to three), the page you signed up on and the time. We use them to send you a welcome email, news about the lessons about once every two or three weeks, and your invitation when the lessons open, and to see which topics people want first. We rely on your consent, which you give by joining and can take back at any time.
- Emails you send us. If you write to us, we keep your address and your message for as long as we need to answer you.
- Counting visits. We count page visits with an analytics service that sets no cookies and keeps nothing that identifies you. We see only totals, such as how many people opened a page, where they came from and in which country.
- Technical logs. Our hosting provider briefly keeps records of requests to the site, which can include IP addresses, to run it and keep it safe.
For everything except the waitlist, we rely on our legitimate interest in answering you, keeping the site running and safe, and knowing which pages people find useful.
Cookies
We use only the cookies the site needs to work. The law lets us set those without asking, so there's no cookie banner. Right now the site sets none of its own. As it grows, these are the only kinds it will use:
- Signing in. Once accounts open, a cookie keeps you signed in.
- Payments. When paid plans arrive, the payment service sets its own cookies on its checkout page to prevent fraud.
- Your choices. If you pick something like the site's language, a cookie remembers it.
- Security. Our hosting provider may set one to block bots and attacks.
We never use cookies for advertising or tracking, and our emails have no tracking pixels or tracked links. Besides cookies, the site saves only your progress in a lesson you try, in your browser on your device.
When the lessons open
You'll be able to sign in, so that your progress and achievements are kept with us and follow you to any device. Before accounts start, we'll add to this page exactly what an account keeps and how to delete it.
Keeping it safe
The site can add your address to the waitlist but can't read the list back, so nobody can see it from the web. Only we can open it.
A few services help us run the site: they host it, store the waitlist, handle our email and count visits, and use your data only for that. Some of them are in the United States; when your data goes there from the EU or the UK, it's protected the way the law requires, by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses (and their UK versions). Ask us for a copy.
We'd pass your data to anyone else only if the law requires it, or, after telling you first, if TeriAcademy becomes a company or changes hands.
How long we keep it
Your waitlist entry stays until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, and no longer than 12 months after the public launch. If you unsubscribe, we keep only your address on a do-not-email list, so we never write to you again by mistake. Emails you send us are kept only as long as we need them to answer you.
Your rights
You can ask to see the data we have about you, correct it, get a copy of it, limit how we use it, object to it or have it deleted, and you can withdraw your consent at any time: every email we send has an unsubscribe link. Write to hello@teriacademy.com and we'll answer within a month. If you live in the EU or the UK and think we've mishandled your data, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Children
Anyone can try our lessons, whatever their age. To join the waitlist, you need to be 16 or older; if you're younger, ask a parent or guardian to sign up with their own email. If you think a child has given us their address, write to us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this page, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your address, we'll email you before it applies. The rules for using the site are in the terms of use.
